     Brogo Permaculture Gardens is

                    FOR SALE

                $565,000.00

After 15 years of development John and Sharon are moving the family to the BEND eco-neighbourhood in Bega and offer their property for sale. Judged by many as one of the best examples of temperate permaculture design, this is the complete package and it is a case of simply moving in and start eating.

HOUSE and GARDENS

The 11 acre site consists of 4 acres  of managed gardens and 7 acres of bush regeneration. The house is a 5 bedroom passive solar mudbrick dwelling. A composting toilet and a reuse greywater system to the orchard provide resources back to the land.

There is an active photovoltaic solar power system as well as a solar hot water unit. An Aga slow combustion stove provides back up hot water in winter as well as keeping the house warm and  for cooking. Fuel for the Aga is harvested from timber growing on the property.

The earth floor is a pleasure to live on and acts as a thermal mass during winter to radiate heat out in the evenings. Roof water is harvested into 2 x 5,000 gallon tanks and 2 small ponds gravity feed water to fruit crops.

The gardens are extensive yet low in maintenance due to the clever use of animals. Extensive shelterbelts mitigate strong winds that provide cover for over 70 different varieties of fruit species, many in the sub tropical range including avocados.

The  4 acres is designed using the keyline pattern of water harvesting and 5 swales intersect the contour to keep all the rain that falls into the soil for food production. The remaining 8 acres has the potential to tap into springs and engage in a commercial enterprise.

We share our property with wallabies, wombats, echidna's, sugar glyders and numerous birds.

The BEGA VALLEY

The Bega Valley is situated an 8 hour drive from Melbourne, 5 hours from Sydney, 3 hours from Canberra with the snow fields just 2 hours away and the beautiful beaches less than an hour.

Its a growing vibrant community with the property 20 minutes drive from the township of Bega.

There is a good choice of schools available including Mumbulla Primary for Steiner Education. Both Public and Private Primary and High Schools are available and the school bus picks up children from our driveway.
